About this course

The Manual Handling in Childcare course is a brand new online awareness training program developed by Fluid Learning to meet the specific needs of those working with children in the early learning environment. Read on to find out why you should enrol in this program!

Course Content

The practice of safe manual handling within the education and care environment includes handling children as well as inanimate loads, such play equipment.

The Manual Handling in Childcare training program is broken into two parts:

  • PART 1 – The what, why, who and how of safe manual practices including relevant legislation, anatomy, how injuries occur, risk assessment and reporting
  • PART 2 – Careless practices, safety tips, industry specific manual tasks, pregnancy, physical fitness and hygiene.

Course Objectives

Health and safety legislation requires that all education and care staff engaged in manual tasks at work must be given training in safe manual handling techniques to minimise injury.

The Manual Handling in Childcare course is designed to meet these requirements and educate those working with young children to carry out their day to day roles and responsibilities safely and in a way that promotes career longevity.

This course is consistent with the Model Code of Practice for Hazardous Manual Tasks developed by Safe Work Australia.

Who is this Course for?

First and foremost, this course is for educators and carers working daily in the early learning environment. It is also recommended for those providing services to the industry who visit the early learning environment, especially if having contact with children (e.g. photography services; specialised program providers)..

What do I get on Completion?

Statement of Completion is issued via email to each learner on completion of the online modules in this training. This online course is 100% computer marked and the Statement of Completion is issued immediately upon completion of all the online questions. That means you can start and complete the program today and receive immediate evidence of your learning to print or email as needed!

Learning Objectives

The aim of this course is to provide participants with the knowledge, skills and attitude that will enable them to lift and move loads in accordance with good manual handling techniques and to avoid risk of injury.

On completion of the course participants will be able to:

  • Recognise a load or manual handling activity that presents a personal safety risk
  • Understand the limitations of the spine and muscular system
  • Lift and handle loads and perform industry specific manual handling tasks safely

Very impressed by Fluid First Aid. The pre course Online material was well researched; informative and presented in an entertaining yet thorough format. The Trainer was knowledgeable, read the room well; tailoring her presentation to be relevant to a range of learners. Plenty of gear so everyone will get hands on Training. Was able to complete CPR, First Aid Refresher and an LVR Refresher in the day. Good value, no corners cut, learned new skills. Happy to recommend Fluid.

Fluid CPR and First Aid courses are great value for money. They run lots of courses each week - so easy to book. The people teaching the courses are very knowledgeable and keep it interesting. Each time I’ve gone back for my annual CPR certificate I’ve learned something new. Be sure to turn up early to North Lakes sessions as parking can be an issue.
